Manual focus vs. Manual mode

Manual mode and Manual focus are two different concepts and are no way related. For a long time, I was under the impression that, to use manual mode, one needs to switch to manual focus. It didn’t make any sense to me, but somehow I was married to that idea for a long time. Manual mode is where you take control of the exposure and with manual focus; you adjust the focus of the lens by hand. Sounds simple right? But it didn’t occur to me for a long time. Well, “you learn from my mistakes”.
